HowTo print a poster
Posters in A0, A1, A2 (and the Over-sized A0, A1, A2) formats can be printed using the a0 printer queue which is available on request. Please, send the poster to the printer queue and then ask the System Administrator to send it over to the printer.
The A0 printer is an HP 1055 Plotter, it is managed by DIT of EPFL and it is physically located at the central computing center (in front of the post office). You can fetch your poster at the Help Desk (room MA B 0466). The Help desk is not always open (see the section DIT Time Table from the Information menu of the Dit Page for opening hours). Therefore, do not wait until the last minute before printing.
Some Hints
- When you print a poster in A0 format, double check the configuration of your application to be sure that you're printing in A0 format and not A4 or Letter (the default formats for the printers).
- When you print your poster, whatever application you're using, remember to select the printer a0 from the Printers list before selecting the format of the page in the printer dialog box.
- Acrobat Reader use a custom printer dialog box. Please, click on the Properties button and check the format of the output before sending the file to the printer.
- Printing posters is very expensive. In order to minimize the number of errors, please use a local printer for tests.
Printing a poster require time
- the plotters are shared among all the EPFL users (there might be 10 poster in the queue before yours);
- you need time to go fetch it at DIT (room MA B 0466);
- the Help Desk is not always open (Dit Page for opening hours);
- the sysadmin needs to be contacted to enable the print queue of the poster.
Therefore, Don't even try to print a poster just one hour before the start of your presentation. Print it at least one day in advance, instead.
