====== The NFS protocol ======

Unix workstation can access files stored in others computer by using the **nfs** protocol, as others file share system, this protocol offer some advantages and a little disavantages.\\ 

All the workstation **Linux** in the offices and in the labs are already configured to access the share of servers automatically. all the user have to do is to indicate what share hi/he want.
To access a particoular server (you have to know where the file you want is stored) just open a terminal window and insert the command:
 cd /net/<name of the server>/<path of the files>

where:
  * <name of the server>: All server have an IP address and a letteral name (simpler to remember for humans being). You can use the one or the latter to indicate the server
  * <path of the files>:  This means the complete path needed to reach the file you want. the path start at **/** (the root dir in unix)

**e.g.**\\
to reach the scratch space you can use this command:
  cd /net/lthcserv7/data/scratch1/<your directory>
